Vintage large-format fold-out 1937 road map of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, printed more than 87 years ago.

  • This map opens to a generous 24" x 37½" and has great detail on old highway alignments and route numbers, with cartography by the American Automobile Association.

  • A full-panel ad urges motorists to "avoid all city traffic" and use the New Castle-Pennsville Ferry to cross the Delaware River where the Delaware Memorial Bridge is located today. The ferry offered year-round, 24-hour service.

  • Another panel has an ad for Coca-Cola, with a gas station attendant getting a bottle of Coke out of a cooler for a traveling motorist. The slogan at the top reads: "All roads lead to the pause that refreshes."

  • On the reverse side of the map there is a detailed index of cities and villages in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, along with descriptive listings of bridges, ferries, and points of interest.

  • Condition:  This map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.

  • It was published in 1937 by the American Automobile Association, Washington, D.C. and is dated in the lower corner.

  • Note:  We may also have a smaller-format 1937 AAA map of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with a directory of hotels, restaurants, and garages, listed in our eBay store as item # 275042334493. If you'd like to take a look, simply click here.
