This is an original pair of circa 1900 salesman sample rubber boots (men's?) by the Boston Rubber Shoe Company (1853-c1929). The name is molded on their heels. They are in perfect condition especially for their age and are currently in a 8.25 by 6.25 by 2.75 inch display case with Plexiglas front. The rubber is still supple and not really dry rotted at all. They are fabric lined inside. The boots are just about 3 7/8 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches long at the soles.

I got these along with some other material from a collection pertaining to vintage and antique foot ware! They had factories in Malden and then later in  Melrose, Mass. and the warehouse was in Boston. Started by Elisha Converse. I think they were related to the Converse family that ran the Converse Sneaker Company still operating today.

The Boston Rubber Shoe Company samples are much rarer than like the Candee and Goodyear boot samples and hardly ever turn up. You will find like a hundred of those for every one BRSC sample!

Good luck.
