Leather postcards were only made between 1903 and 1907.  They were very popular, but in 1907 they were outlawed since they were jamming up the USPS cancelling machinery.  Leather postcards included diverse subjects including comical, wise sayings, drinking, limericks, famous places, famous people, caricatures, romance, patriotic, holidays, animals, names, flowers, and more.  Many were hand made and hand colored.  They provide a unique perspective into the thoughts and mores of the people living at the turn of the century.
