Size: 24 cm to top of handle, 13 cm to top of lid. A two person teapot.

Condition: Excellent condition, no chip, cracks or restoration.

This delicate teapot is modelled, as with most of Bridget Drakeford's work, in the style of ancient Chinese porcelain.  It has a seed pod handle finished with metal and the rings hold the cane handle are also metal which is probably silver but tarnished black (we have not cleaned it). The piece is signed by Bridget Drakeford on the base with her impressed mark.

Bridget Drakeford (born 1946) is a well established potter who has exhibited widely at major venues throughout Britain and Internationally.  Her first workshop was established in South West Scotland in 1977, and she moved in 1994 to Herefordshire, where she now has a studio at home. She works exclusively in porcelain, taking her inspiration from Far Eastern ceramics.  She was a prizewinner at the Mashiko Ceramics Competition in Japan, and at the World Ceramic Exposition in Korea. She won an Arts Council Award for an exhibition and study tour to Japan in 2005. She is a professional member of the Craft Potters Association of Great Britain.

Using reduction firings to produce both copper red (‘sang de boeuf’) and celadon glazes, Bridget uses an electric kiln as well at times, researching and making her own glazes based on those traditionally used in China.
