The auction is for a studio scale Jem Hadar battle cruiser model replica, based on original filming miniature, from the “Star Trek Deep Space Nine” (DS9-1992) TV series.  The model is painted in colours used in the TV series and measures 48 inches in length and has 48 inches wide (the same colours and dimensions of the original miniature – it is Very Huge as can be seen from the first picture). The original physical model was used for visual effects in the Dominion War. The model in my listing is constructed from plastic sheets (not 3D printed) a technique that has been used about 30 years (except for 3d printing which has been applied for the last 5 years mainly) for building models from scratch. In the photos the replica is compared with images of the original studio model used in the series!!! It is not 100% accurate but it is still a very good attempt to represent the original filming miniature at a relatively low price (it is not internally lit unlike the original miniature).

There are only three models for this subject in the entire world: One is the original filming miniature that sold in Christie’s 2006 live auction “40 Years of Star Trek: The Collection” (which was built from traditional material’s cast resin with plastic elements for the lighted components, as the newer light weight composites were outside of the production’s budget, resulting in a heavy and cumbersome model), a second same size (but not screen used) physical Jem'Hadar battle cruiser model (that was built with the same materials as the original model), in a slightly different paint scheme but not internally lit, was a display piece for “Pennington's own effects shop” (in which the original model was built) and now belongs in the collection of an American collector and the third is the one in my ebay listing (which as mentioned before was made of plastic sheets so it is much lighter and easier to handle therefore less fragile than the other two models).
