  • The image area measures 30.5 x 47 cm [12" x 18½"], and details include railways, steamship routes, cities, towns, political boundaries, and natural features.


  • There are six insets:  Marseilles, Gibraltar, Alexandria, Valetta Harbors, Maltese Islands, and Cyprus.


  • Among the other named places and features are Constantinople, Barcelona, Gozo, Tunis, Tyrrhenian Sea, Jerusalem, Cairo, Montenegro, Algiers, Athens, Corsica, Genoa, Damascus, Sicily, Venice, Gaza, and the Red Sea.


  • The map was issued in Library Atlas of Modern Geography, published by D. Appleton & Company, New York. It is dated 1891 in the lower margin.
