About this book :
This book is a history of Japanese coinage written by Kusama Naokata, a money exchanger in the late Edo period, and first published in 1815. In the book, the author describes the history of the minting and circulation of three types of coinage - gold, silver and iron - and provides an accurate diagram of the coins, showing their shapes and shades.
Kokon Kahei Zusetsu was originally a large 44-volume work, but this book seems to have been compiled by extracting from it the parts with the most coin illustrations.
