This handsome antique goblet, made of clear flint glass, is a classic example of early American pattern glass. The pattern “flute” is one of the earliest products of this Victorian industry that had its start in New England before the Civil War. The quality of this heavy shinny flint glass is amazing. It was one of the most popular patterns and was made by a number of American factories. It was produced in many forms, including ale glasses, candlesticks, decanters, egg cups and even syrup jugs. You could create quite a collection. This water goblet is a two mold example with a polished pontil on its base. It has a knob stem and rings when the straight rim is tapped.
