Annamese Blue and White Ceramic Dish, Bird Design, Hoi An Hoard, Chu Dau kiln, Vietnam, circa 1500.
The sturdily potted form has a raised rim decorated in under glaze cobalt blue of a plump bird perched on a leafy bamboo branch on center, surrounded by a band of orchid blossoms and vines, the exterior wall decorated with lotus form lappets, raised foot rim and iron brown washed base with the Hoi An Hoard label, artifact #146386, recovered from the 1999 salvage of a wreck off the Vietnamese coast.
One small iron stain at the unglazed rim otherwise excellent condition.
