Legalon® contains an exclusive extract from the plant, Silybum marianum, more commonly known as Milk thistle. Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) fruit extract. 

Description 

Each capsule contains dry extract from the fruits of Silybum marianum (36-44:1) 173-186.7 mg equivalent to silymarin 75-80.9%, calculated as silibinin (extractant: Ethyl acetate >96.7%). It also contains the following excipients: Gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, maize starch, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulphate, titanium dioxide E 171 and ferric oxides E 172. 

Indications/Uses 

Traditionally used for liver tonic. 

Dosage/Direction for Use Treatment: 

1 cap 3 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to silymarin 420 mg). Maintenance Dose: 1 cap 2 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to silymarin 280 mg) is sufficient. 

Administration: 

The capsules should be taken whole with some liquid before meals. Overdosage In the event of an overdose, the mild laxative effect may occur to a greater extent. In this case, consult a physician for symptomatic measures. Contraindications Use in children: There have been no adequate investigations on the use of Legalon in children. It should, therefore, not be used in children <12 years. Use In Pregnancy & Lactation No experience is available with regard to the use of Legalon during pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, it should only be used after consultation with a doctor. 

Side Effects 

A mild laxative effect has occasionally been observed.
