Annamese Blue and White Ceramic Dish, Bird Design, Chu Dau kiln, Vietnam, circa 1500.
A sturdily potted plate with raised rim, decorated in under glaze cobalt blue of a parrot perched on a prunus branch on center surrounded by decorative bands of foliate scrolls and lotus blossoms, the exterior wall decorated with lotus form lappets, raised foot rim and iron brown washed base with some marine adhesions.
Ocean degraded glaze finish otherwise fine condition.
