Very scarce bound collection of the first three annual issues of The Belgravia magazine. At this time under the editorship of Mary Elizabeth Braddon, the magazine produced wildly popular sensation stories that created the genre. As opposed to the gothic story of the era, the sensation story situated horrific and criminal happenings in frighteningly realistic contexts. These first three annuals present ghost, supernatural, and Christmas stories and poetry alongside gorgeous black and white engravings that bring the themes and events of the story to life!

This is an incredibly collectible volume and exceedingly hard to find. The three loose leaf volumes were lovingly bound by an expert binder. The spine joints are split through to the threads, but holding firm. The leather corners are rubbed and worn. Several pages inside have some water staining.

Overall, an attractive volume with as much character and beauty as the stories it tells. Sold as is!
