This puppet was one of many puppets that I used once each year or so with my first and second grade students.  (I enforced  the rules that puppets don't fly, and puppets don't fight, so the play time was gentle.)

The Caterpillar has black bead eyes set into the velvety yellow face.  It has yellow, red, and dark blue body parts with a light blue antennae.  There is an embroidered mouth and a red velvety nose.  The legs are green velvety fabric with six legs having yellow, blue, or red feet.  The fingers on the glove make it look like there are many more legs/feet.  The tag says it was made in China with a 1994 date on it.  I remember buying a set of these glove puppets to use with my students a long time ago.

The puppet can fit both a child's hand and an adult's hand.  The head and body is firmly stuffed giving it dimension and maintaining the shape but the movement comes from the green velvety glove attached under its legs.  The Caterpillar has a handspan of about 8.5 inches and is about 9.5 inches from the nose on the head to the bottom of the puppet's abdomen.

I found it amazing how children immediately focus when using a puppet to communicate a lesson.   I also had my students create puppet plays to perform for their parents and the puppets were truly loved.  Now that I'm retired and no longer work with kids I am downsizing my teaching treasures so please visit my store to see more items that kids, teachers, and other collectors love.  Actually, my store has items from many of my family members' collections so there's a lot to look at.  Be sure to click on a category to find more of what you love.

I gladly combine shipping for items purchased on the same day.  If you put them in your cart together before paying the system automatically combines weights for shipping.  If you make an offer on "buy it now" items the system often asks for shipping payment up front, but I will refund you any differences if needed once the package is packed up to ship, but again this is only for items purchased on the same day.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
