This auction is for a rare Steiff antique Center Seam bear. He measures 16,5”

If you’re unfamiliar of the meaning of a center seam, I will explain.

When Steiff was cutting its mohair material to create a bear, the materials in many times would leave 1/2 a piece of material left over.The center seam was created by adding another piece to create a full size bear snout.

It was said that only one bear out of nine would create the center seam.. I see quite a few blank button bears but hardly ever a center seam.. This bear has only 4 floss claws and an early Steiff button.

He has beautiful thick mohair throughout.A perfect floss nose and the popular look that puts these bears on the top.

There is a bit of wear to his original felt paw pads as pictured A loose growler in his tummy is present.. he sits and poses well.. Nice thick mohair in clean,excellent condition, from a non smoking home.
