You are purchasing plate 73 Thorpland Hall Norfolk. It’s staggering to think that this plate was printed almost 200 years ago!

After my design degree, I got obsessed with architecture, both Modern & Classical! But then there was the anomaly of ‘Gothic’ to consider and notably Augustus Welby Pugin. The god of ‘Gothic’!

We moved house at that time and in homage to ‘Gothic’, I wanted to hang 10 plates / prints of his on the hallway walls. So I went about acquiring a rather damaged copy of Pugin’s ‘Examples of Gothic Architecture’ (second edition 1838).

Then the magic began. The spine of the book was already gone, so the plates came away readily. The watermarks and mildew were treated with a light cleaning solution, the pages were then dried and pressed before being mounted on ivory coloured mounts, backing board and finally slipped into a cellophane envelope. Obviously the 10 on the walls were framed.

And Voila!!! I enjoyed the process so much, I made a few extra prints / plates and I’m now selling them individually for £80 each. I’m happy to discount 10% for a multiple purchase.

If these sell I may just get to work on cleaning and mounting the rest of the volume.
