This is a wonderful example of tramp art. This was probably built sometime after the civil war when people were wandering the country by riding the rails. They would build tramp art from pieces of wood they would find along the way and trade them for food at stops along the way.

This piece is a really nice example with only minor missing pieces, mostly on the tips of the pyramid like decoration. This is not uncommon for these fragile pieces that are over 100 years old. The overall size is 20 1/2" w x 24" tall and 7" deep. The shelve portion is 14" high x 10" wide with one shelve and inside is painted green.

Found this one in Pennsylvania. You can see this and other wonderful antiques in our large display at Columbia Rivertowne Antique Center, Columbia, PA.
