About Arthur Pepper jewelry

The Mode-Art jewelry company was founded by Arthur Pepper in New York City in the late 1940s and continued production of their "ART" jewelry into the early 1970s. Their pinnacle of jewelry making was in the 1950-1960’s, the “golden age" of costume jewelry.

The company produced jewelry in many styles, from the "Renaissance and Victorian to Art Deco. Their designs included flower, fruit and leafy motifs, and occasionally animalistic themes. Materials used by ART craftsmen included metal alloys of gold and silver tone, rhinestones, enamel, and art glass imitating precious stones. All their jewelry was marked either: ModeArt, Mode, or just ART but all pieces contain the copyright symbol.
