Vintage French Metis Linen Sheet 72 x 94 inches 

This Metis linen sheet has a high linen content so feels luxurious and has a good texture. The hems are hand sewn, very tiny stitches, so it was probably made at home, the housewife probably bought a roll of Metis. In rural France this was quite usual. Very few shops existed pre 1960, so goods were bought from van salesmen. This suited the farmers wives and still happens today. This is also why some sheets vary in length.  

This sheet has been stored for some time so needs laundering. It is very long, 94 inches and wide enough for a generous tuck on a double bed. The colour is natural white.
