Monnet was founded in 1838. In 1897, Jean-Gabriel Monnet chose the
emblem of the salamander to decorate his bottles. The salamander
is a mythical animal with the power to triumph over flames.
Leonetto
Cappiello is an Italian painter, illustrator, caricaturist and
poster artist, naturalized French in 1930. His poster career began
in 1900 and continued until the 1930s. He remained loyal to the
Vercasson printing press until the early 1920s , continues with
“Les Imprimeries Réunies” and begins, at the same period, to
work regularly for the publisher Devambez, with whom he signs,
from 1921 to 1936, an exclusive contract.
