CONDITION: excellent - original mount also in excellent condition. Thin wood strip frame tired and would benefit from replacement.
DETAIL: A wonderful large and early (1957) screenprint by Cheese - in my opinion one of his best! Bernard Cheese was born in Sydenham in 1925 and trained at the Beckenham School of Art. After four years in the army, he attended the Royal College of Art from 1947-50. Here he studied under Edward Bawden, John Nash and Edwin La Dell. La Dell in particular influenced Bernard Cheese and his use of lithography. From 1950-68, he taught printmaking at St Martin’s School of Art, was Senior Lecturer at Goldsmith’s College, London 1970-78 and taught part-time at Central School of Art and Crafts 1980-89. In 1998 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers. His work in in many public collections and he has had many very successful shows.

Glass & Glazing: As per our Shipping Terms (found in the shipping tab below) we do not post glass to prevent the high likelihood of transit damage and also for handlers safety- replacement glass costs just a few pounds and can be easily slipped into the picture on arrival where applicable (i.e. prints & watercolours).
Frames: Because of the fragile nature of picture frames, all frames are offered free with the painting. You are welcome to ask questions about the frame condition before buying but we cannot accept returns or requests for 'part refunds' because a frame arrives with some existing damage not sustained in transit.

All paintings are sold without glass for safety in transit. Replacement glass costs just a few pounds, is easily fitted, and saves the strong likelihood of your artwork getting damaged in the post if glass were included. We ship within a maximum of 3 days of purchase and will use a variety of 24-48 hour parcel carriers including Parcelforce, UPS, Yodel, City Link and Hermes. Internationally we generally ship UPS on a 5 day service. We ship worldwide apart from The Russian Federation and certain other countries where we cannot get parcel company coverage. You are also welcome to collect from our address near Cirencester, Cotswolds – at no charge. Unfortunately we have to charge a small premium for UK Highlands & Islands as well as Northern Ireland, please email for a postal quote if you live in these areas of the country.
We accept returns when notified within 48 hours of receipt. If the return is due to an error on our part then we will pay up to £12 for the return postage. If the return is for other reasons, not the fault of ourselves, then we will not pay for the return postage but will refund the full purchase price (excluding postage) on receipt.
