NIU2055 - SR/WD Express Goods Break Van Conversion Kit for Bachmann Pillbox Brake Van.

During WW2, the Ministry of Supply ordered 40No. 25 ton Brake Vans from the Southern Railway. The vans were built as SR diagram 1579 goods brake van, but fitted with vacuum braking gear.

The vans saw extensive service in the UK, including a number being sent overseas in North Africa.

After the war, and large number were transferred to the railway companies, and finally coming under British Rail ownership. They saw service on the Sothern and Midland regions until being withdrawn in the 1980's. A small number were retained by the WD/MoD and remained in service until the 1990's

The Niu Models kit has been designed in 3D CAD from reference photos measurements taken from the preserved van at the Bluebell Railway, to fit the Bachmann Pillbox Brake Van model. The kit includes, vacuum gear, side pipework, and buffer beam vacuum hoses.

Please note, the parts for this kit are very delicate and easily damaged when removing from the support frame and during assembly. It is not recommended for the novice modeller.
