This is a signed photo of Strom Thurmond 
(1902-2003), 
who served as a United States Senator from the 
state of South Carolina for more than forty years, 
from late 1956 to early 2003. 

Thurmond also served as the Governor of South 
Carolina for four years, from 1947 to 1951.

Thurmond was well known nationally for his
advocacy of racial segregation. After his death, 
it was revealed that he had had a secret affair 
with his family's black housekeeper, with the 
result being that he was the father of a mixed
race daughter, whom he had kept out of the
public eye for his entire life.




This is a 8" by 10" B/W photo, signed in black ink.


The photo is in very good condition.


It is enclosed in a clear plastic sleeve, for protection.
