Twirl's saddle fleece is considered Black on the AAA fleece colour chart. This fleece is 5cm in length and weighs 750g. We use the AAFT to test our fleeces every few years for micron, comfort, curvature, etc. As not every fleece is tested every year, the nearest test will be used as an estimation. This fleece's micron level is classed as Fine. This alpaca's fleece was tested in 2023 and these where the results:

Comfort factor: 94.7%

All of our alpaca's have their fleeces cleaned to the best of our abilities prior to shearing to minimise the amount of dirt and plant matter in the fleece. However some dirt and plant matter may be present. Our fleeces have been classed during shearing and only contain the best fleece from the alpaca (saddle region). All other areas (eg fleece from the legs, neck, and belly) that are known to be short or coarse have been removed.
