This doll is called a Fukusuke doll and is famous in Japan for bringing good fortune to its owner.

This Fukusuke is a ceramic piggy bank with a hole on the back for coins.

Although it is more than 20-30 years old, it is a beautiful item with no major damage to worry about, other than some minor scratches and paint slips.

About Fukusuke

He is said to be modeled on a man born crippled in ancient Japan.

Because of his disability, Fukusuke was bullied from childhood and had no place to work.

One day, a rich man who felt sorry for him hired him as a servant.

He was grateful to the owner and worked hard there.

Strangely enough, after Fukusuke's arrival, the owner's business began to do well, and good fortune began to flow to Fukusuke and the owner.

Fukusuke had a hard time, but he never lost his brightness and worked diligently and hard, and eventually, he was blessed with a kind wife and children and lived a happy life.

This story spread throughout Japan, and dolls in the shape of Fukusuke came to be loved as good luck charms.

John Lennon of the Beatles heard this story in Japan and became very fond of Fukusuke, and he took great care of a Fukusuke doll he bought at a Japanese antique store.

You can see his Fukusuke doll on the cover of their album "Sgt.pepper's".
