Description

A wonderful vintage designer modernist 18k gold articulating brick wall ring, marks of Roy King, dating to circa the 1960s.

Roy Cecil King (1913-2000) was a legendary London, England jeweler and watch maker in the 1960s and 1970s fashion movement. He rose to fame at the start of the sixties when he dominated the Modern Jewelry Exhibition in 1961 winning two first prizes, one second and one third prize, the winning pieces remain in the permanent collection of the Goldsmith's Hall in London. The 'bark textured finish' on jewelry was pioneered by King and one of his bark finish rings was used at the wedding of George Harrison to Patti Boyd in 1966. His famous customers not just included The Beatles but included many other well known people from Saudi princes to Tom Jones.
This fabulous vintage solid 18k yellow gold band ring has been created in the form of a three-layered brick wall with interlocking, articulated links which form themselves to the contours of the finger, the bricks all have realistic engraved textured finishing which both depict the old brick walls found all over London as well as catching the light from every direction. A super opportunity to own an unusual ring by one of the great jewelers of the swinging sixties! The ring has English hallmarks including maker's mark 'RCK' for Roy Cecil King, the London leopards head and '18'. The ring tests for 18k gold.

The ring is approximately a size 5 1/4.

The ring measures approximately 5.9mm wide. The links are about 4.5mm wide. The bricks measure about 4.5mm x 1.5mm.
The ring rises about 1mm above the finger and weighs approximately 5.1 grams.

The ring is in excellent condition with all over general light wear. Please check all the pictures.

If we place a date on an item we guarantee it to be of that period or earlier. If you require further pictures or more information about an item, please let us know prior to bidding or purchase. Items cannot be returned for any condition issues either shown in the pictures or mentioned in the listing.
