Bendigo Pottery C J Dennis Jug

A Toby jug by the Bendigo Pottery of C J Dennis, this in a lovely light glaze. This was produced for the CJ Dennis centenary, 7/9/1976, 300 of 1200, actually just 658 pieces made before the moulds were destroyed.

The final photo is of a trio of Bendigo Toby jugs, all listed for sale.

The Bendigo Pottery Toby jugs were modelled and designed by Melbourne artist and political Cartoonist, John Frith in 1973 as a series of six, each intended as limited editions of 3,000. C. J. Dennis and some others being added at a later date. Due to poor sales, far fewer than the anticipated number were produced.
