Handmade Bowie hunting knife in damascus steel by IMPACT CUSTOM KNIVES

This unique handmade damascussteel huntingknife not only looks stunning but is also extremely durable. The head slides into the handle without any mechanical connection or weld. This amazing knife will last for many years.

The blade consists of of approximately 288 layers of steels 1095 and 15N20, thanks to which the manufacturer has achieved a surface with an amazing and unique pattern.

The blade of the knife is the result of many hours of forging. Few manufacturers are able to get such a pattern on the layers flowing all the way to the edge of the blade - this creates a saw blade effect at a microscopic level which allows the blade to retain its cutting properties for a long time without the need for sharpening, while other blades dull. Ideal for the outdoors- hunting, fishing, camping.

The blade has undergone excellent heat treatment so it holds its edge/sharpness very well. The head has fantastic hand honing on both sides. The magnificent handle is braided natural leather combined with the bull horn makes the knife feel great in the hand. The hilt is made of damascus steel.

This knife is equipped with a top-quality, extra-thick, entirely hand-stitched leather scabbard. The extra-thick calfskin and strong stitching make this sheath robust, so that it can withstand many years of hard and intensive use. The scabbard can be worn on a belt.

The knife comes with a certificate of authenticity, an Impact Life Time guarantee card and a business card.

An excellent gift idea !!!

Bowie knife - a type of American straight-bladed hunting knife popularised in the early 19th century by the famous pioneer, Jim Bowie. The first examples were created by the armourer James Black, and although the name "Bowie knife" came to refer to all large, heavy knives with a wide blade, a proper "Bowie" should have a short handle with a small hilt and a blade with a distinctive crescent-shaped cut-out on the back.

The Bowie knife owes its name to a duel that took place in 1827 on a sandbank on the Mississippi at Natchez. After the duel, in which Jim Bowie did not participate, a fight ensued; Bowie was shot twice and stabbed with a spade blade, but his opponent impaled himself on his knife. Replicas of this knife are still popular with collectors; they are made by numerous knife companies in the US and by hundreds of amateurs.

!!! NOTE: Leather scabbards draw moisture out of the air and tend to rust knives if not stored properly. When you are done using your knife, clean it thoroughly and put it away FROM the leather scabbard, apply gun oil, 'Seal 1' or similar protectant to it and store. Damascus, 1095HC and D2 can rust and develop stains if not lubricated. 1095HC steel can tarnish and turn the blade black if blood and acidic liquids or chemicals get on the blade. The blade will not lose its cutting propertiesbut will lose its satin colour. !!!
