This is an original stone lithograph crated in 1926 by Henry le Monnier to promote Chablis wines in France. It is often said that a talented poster artist can tell so much of a story in a single image. Here, le Monnier shows the viewer that fine Chablis wines are enjoyed around the globe. He conveys his message with rich details and bold graphics. The colors of this poster work so well together.

Henry Le Monnier (1893-1978) created a small body of work in the field of advertising posters. He worked mainly for the printer Affiches Lutetia, which was based in Paris. Most of his designs were created from the 1920s - late 1930s and are colorful, spirited, and somewhat humorous. His works are much in the same style of Leonetto Cappiello and Jean D'Ylen, who were more popular at that time. Le Monnier has a fine artistic hand and many of his posters are quite valuable in today's market.
