Die romanische Kunst in den MNAC-Sammlungen ist eine

Romanesque art in the MNAC collections is a wide-ranging,
updated view of one of the most unique periods in Catalan art, examined through
the splendid collection of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. This
collection is comprised of a number of exceptional mural paintings, as well as
a magnificent series of panel paintings, wood and stone carvings and works of
sumptuous art. Romanesque art, which developed in Catalonia between the early
nith and the mid-13th century, represents one of the richest ages in the
history of Catalan art. This volume explores the Catalan Romanesque through a
series of its masterpieces, such as the paintings on the apse of Sant Climent
de Taüll, the altar frontal from Avià and the Batlló Majesty. The book also
includes sections on the general context of the Romanesque, the history of the
collections and the interest that the Romanesque aroused among Avant-garde
artists in the 2oth century, and which reflects the validity of the Romanesque
in the present day.
