Beautiful
engraved reproduction of an original drawing by Winslow Homer titled
"Gathering Berries."
- This engraved view is
printed on a heavy
cream-colored stock. It is titled in the lower margin, and the image
area measures 23.5 x 35 cm [9¼" x 13¾"].
-
The overall size of the
sheet is 11" x 15¾".
-
The drawing shows a group of girls and boys with cups and buckets
gathering blueberries in a field near the coast. A schooner sails
serenely by in the distance.
-
Philip Beam, in his book on Winslow Homer,
says this print is an excellent illustration of the artist's "accent on
carefree youth" — a theme "brought to a climax in the mid-seventies"
after the horrors and traumas of the Civil War.
-
"Gathering Berries" was originally published in the July 11, 1874
edition of Harper's Weekly. This high-quality
reproduction was created at a later date.
- Condition: It is in excellent condition,
bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. It
is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side.
- It would make a beautiful display in your den or office.
It would also
make a perfect gift, and we will include our helpful tips on framing
