Rita Williams is 70 years old and has been carving for 46 years. She is a third generation wood carver of note and a member of the world famous Williams family of totem pole carvers.  The Williams family claims carvers in both Canada and the US and has many works featured in museums across North America.  Rita is a member of the Nuuchahnulth First Nation and lives on the Ditidaht reserve on the Pacific Northwest Coast of British Columbia, Canada. This is a beautiful example of a early totem carving by master carver Rita Williams. Approximate dating late 1970s, 1980s  Her more recent pieces are painted, but this one showcases the beautiful colors of the natural wood.
