I have here for sale a book entitled SWISS PICTURES DRAWN WITH PEN AND PENCIL by the Rev Samuel Manning.  This is a new and enlarged edition published around 1880 (no date given).  It was published by the Religious Tract Society, London.  It is illustrated throughout with b/w steel engraved pictures, 26 of which are full page plates.  The frontispiece plate is colour. The book is divided into 7 different areas of Switzerland - Eastern Switzerland and the Rhine; The Forest Cantons; The Simplon Road and the Swiss-Italian Lakes; The Monte Rosa District; The Bernese Oberland; The Mont Blanc District; Western Switzerland.  

Bound in dark green hardboards with lovely gilt and black illustrations and patterning to the front board and spine.  Bumped to head and tail of spine.  Boards in very good/fine condition.  Floral endpapers.  Pages clean.  208 pages, 29 x 20 cm.
