Of lobed pentagonal form, this rare Wedgwood oyster plate features a turquoise well center encircled by five pink ground oyster shell pockets divided by naturalistic light gray dolphin fish. The underside is mottled in blue-gray and brown, raised on five crescent feet, with an impressed Wedgwood mark, date stamp, and registry mark. This plate is in wonderful shape with crazing as made. This plate was created in 1878 or 1879.
