Hollywood Film Company has been a leading motion picture equipment manufacturer for over 60 years. Their motion picture equipment is used in motion picture film labs worldwide.

HFC manufactures color analyzers, densitometers, motion picture printers, stroboscan projectors, film splicers, ultrasonic film splicers, motion picture film-handling products, Reels, KeyKode reading equipment, and computerized motion picture post-production systems.



A "split reel" is a motion picture film reel in two halves that, when assembled, hold a specific length of motion picture film that has been wound on a plastic core. Using a split reel allows film to be shipped or handled in a lighter and smaller form than film would on a "fixed" reel. Also, the cost factor. shipping and storing film stock on cores, saves the cost of an expensive reel.




While a normal metal 11.5" 1,000' reel has a core of about 4", using a split reel with a 2" core increases the capacity of the reel to around 1,200 ft.

This auction is for a vintage HFC HOLLYWOOD FILM CO 35mm movie film aluminum SPLIT reel. It measures about 11.5 inches in diameter and has a capacity of around 1,200+ feet of film.  (See Pics)

It was part of an inventory removed from a home of a CAMERA COLLECTOR after he died and the owners sold the home. These cameras were among a number of CAMERAS AND PHOTOGRAPHIC SUPPLIES. They all looked like in decent shape. So, I am selling it "AS IS" NO RETURNS NO REFUNDS, and pricing it accordingly.

Condition: This reel appears to be in excellent condition. It is about 50 years old, there may be some light scuff markings, writing or stickers on the reel.

I use dry erase marker on these for stock identification purposes. It comes off with a damp rag.

So far, I have sold quite a bit of items from that lot and have had no complaints yet!!
