This listing is for an approximately 15” tall skookum doll of a Native Indian baby bundled in a blanket and affixed to a papoose board or cradle board. The baby is swaddled in a brick red and black felt-like blanket and affixed to a cardboard type board with raffia-like strings in natural and red colors. The baby’s head is held in place with a blue piece of leather. The “board” itself appears painted in red and green to add decoration and authenticity to the item. The baby has a sweet smile and bright eyes. There is a paper tag attached to the cardboard for the baby that has an image of a teepee on one side and on the other a place to fill out a gift tag or mailing tag. That side reads, “From” and “To.” The tag was never filled out. There are no marks. This side of the paper bears a sitting figure of a man with a pointed head and the word, “Trade Mark.” This paper tag also is marked around the hole and reads, “Dennison Mfg Co. U.S.A. PC.” The tag is worn on one side and has bends, but is largely whole. See photos. The baby measures 3 7/8” tall (top of the cradle board to the bottom of the cradle board) by 1 ¾” at its widest point. The tag measures 4 ½’ tall by 3 3/8” at its widest.
