Thanks for looking, this is a very comfortable camper van built for off grid and exploring. I’ve had many vans over the years, this was bought partially converted and completed by me.
Key for me was to have a comfortable van that could be used off grid so it has 200w of solar panels and 2x110ah leisure batteries – these also charge when the engine is running or from mains. There is a large fixed bed so you don’t have to pull out a bed every night, and put it away, shower and toilet, lots of storage space also. I have added a large 12v cold box for the van which sits neatly between the seats so you have loads of cold storage, everything else is optimised for 12v.
In terms of what it is
- VW LWB crafter Van, 6 speed gearbox, MOT expires 23 November 2024, I pay £28 a month for tax, cheaper if you do it by the year
- The fuel pressure valve, clutch, cambelt and fan belt tensioner were done about 15,000 miles ago. Its been remapped to remove the DPF, and the remapping also set it up for more torque and better fuel economy, I will get 30mpg plus using regular diesel.
- Been regularly serviced and looked after, it has 175,000 miles on the clock but that’s nothing for these motors.
- Comes with a large driveaway awning, see pictures.
- Has a factory speed limiter fitted rather than cruise control but you use it the same e.g. set it at the speed you want and just keep your foot on the accelerator.
- Aftermarket stereo with plenty of speakers and a decent amplifier, built in Bluetooth so you can hook up the phone.
- Driver seat has an arm rest which makes long distances easier, it also has a speed limiter so you can just set that and sit there which again makes distances easier
- Fixed double bed at rear of the van with a comfortable mattress and a 12v TV/DVD player, this swivels so you can watch it from the seating area. Aerial is permanently mounted on the roof and it has a 12v signal booster in the wardrobe.
- Bed had gas struts to help lift it to access storage under, currently had 4 large Ikea boxes in there so a good bit of storage
- Gas locker in the rear area has 2 bottles and a switch over valve so making chaining over bottles easy.
- 3 gas rings with fold down glass lid, and same style sink.
- Built in 12v/240v fridge. As mentioned, I like to wild camp so I bought a large cold box so I could stock up and not have to be shopping on a regular basis, I’ll leave that in the van.
- Trauma water heater which works on gas or mains electric, this feeds the sink and the shower
- 70lt water tank (inside the van) and 90lt waste water tank (under the van). Tank location was to prevent freezing (have camped in minus 4 without issues), drain for waste water is under the van.
- I carry fresh water in a 10lt plastic “jerry can” which is bungeed in the van, the van will come with a 40lt aqua roll in the boot, this is how I carry extra drinking water. It has a tap cap so you can fill the jerry can easily, and a 12v shower so you can use that as a shower or to pump water into the van tank if needed.
- Propex gas blown air heating, I’ve camped in some low temperatures and this has been great. Has a thermostat so it doesn’t need to be continually on.
- Bathroom has the shower with hot/cold water, shower tray is a decent size so you can have a proper shower
- Thetford one piece cassette toilet, flushing water tank is built in and topped up from the size. New flushing water pump installed mid last year
- Seating area at the front with a table that can be stowed away, seating area has storage underneath. There is also over cab storage
- Curtains between front and back so when wild camping people cant see you in there
- Lots of storage all around including a wardrobe
- In the back there is storage area under the bed accessible from the back doors.
- It has Unistrut rails on the roof, I was going to build a deck area at the back. If you look online you will see how others have done it.
- Has 2x4G aerials on the roof so you can have good signal coverage. I’ll be leaving the router with (it’s a TP-Link Archer Wireless Dual Band LTE Router AC750), all you need to do is buy your own SIM. This is powered from 12v, it has the original aerials if you want to use it outside the van.
- Also comes with levelling chocks, electric hook up cable and storage boxes in the boot that keep things tidy. It has 2 windscreen covers, a lightweight one and a thermal one. There are some tears in the thermal one but nothing serious.
- For 240V use there is a low current electric kettle and oil filled radiator which I will leave in the van. There is also a plug in power checker so you can make sure the 240V is okay before you plug anything in. Power sockets are at the front of the van and there is an extension lead so you can plug things in.
- For 12v there are outlets dotted all over including USB outlets.
Other notes:
- The gear change when cold is a little stiff but I’ve been told this is normal
- Usual age related marks and scratches as you’d expect.
Any questions please let me know.
Van is currently in DE6 if you want to view/test drive.
