Chinese Art: Shang 商代 Period Bronze Ritual Tripod (Ding 鼎) - Modern Reproduction.
  Cast-bronze tripod with flat legs in the shape of dragons and two loop handles bearing miniature tigers. Height 6 inches (15.5 cm). Weight 1 lb, 12 oz.
  The original object shown in reproduction here is a bronze tripod from Qingjiang 清江, in modern-day Jiangxi province. The vessel is a regional variant of tripods associated with the Early Shang sites of North China datable to the middle second millenium BCE. The best known site of this southern region, at Xin'gan 新干, yielded a large quantity of bronzes shown now at the museum in Nanchang.

  This reproduction was made for the Cultural Relics Bureau authorities and is approximately half scale. A gift to participants at a scholarly conference held in Xi'an, China in 1993. Small label in Chinese included as well as cloth-covered box.
