Published by the Polish publisher, JSC, the kit builds 1:400 scale waterline model of the German WW2 battleship, Tirpitz.


Launched in April 1939, the 42,900-ton Tirpitz was the second Bismarck-class battleship, mounting eight 15” guns in four twin turrets. After a sortie into the Atlantic with the Admiral Scheer, she went into Norwegian waters, where she remained for the rest of her life. A constant threat to the Allied Arctic convoys, she was attacked by variously by Soviet submarines, Soviet aircraft, British midget submarines and British aircraft. On 12th. November 1944, she was hit by 5-ton bombs dropped by RAF Lancasters and capsized.


The model, which depicts the ship as she was in May-June 1942, is about 24 inches long.


The kit has good diagrams and full English instructions. The parts are printed on 10 sheets of A4 card. 


The modeller cuts out the pieces, scores, bends, folds and curves them into the right shape before gluing them together. The result is a proper 3-D scale model.
