New 14K (13mm by 12mm stone) solid yellow gold sea star cut white fire opal solitaire pendant. Hallmarked "USA 14K" and professionally tested gold (NOT gold plated or gold filled). Pendant bail opening will fit all necklace/chains up to 3mm wide.
Earth mined opal is very brittle/fragile registering 5.5 on Mohs hardness scale. This high density silica composite stone by comparison, is grown through an extensive year-long process. Using environmental conditions similar to natural occurring opal, slowly forming crystallization in a vertical columnar structure is re-created. The end result exhibits exceptional bright fire color play light reflection and is extremely durable.
