This fabulous vintage cocktail dress from Abby Fredelle exemplifies iconic 1980s fashion. It has large, heavily beaded shoulders, an oversized surplice and blouson bodice, a mini pencil skirt, and a separate wrap around "girdle" with a big beaded buckle. The dress is a pull on style with an elastic waist. The hip wrap I am referring to as a girdle is separate from the dress, attached only at the back of the waist by two crocheted strings. It closes in front with hooks and snaps on the back of the buckle. Surprisingly, there is a fabric label indicating that the knit is 100% silk. The top is unlined, and the skirt is lined in green silk. There is no size label, and it was difficult to measure this dress. The top is oversized, the waist is elastic, and the knit is stretchy, but measurements and sizing tables indicate it would fit in the modern 6-8 range, or Medium sizes. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size and compare with a similar garment that fits you.*  MEASUREMENTS - Underarm chest measurement is 32"  - Elastic waist is 11" relaxed and will stretch to at least 28" - Hip measurement of lining is 40"  - Shoulder width is 14" between seams; 16" including full width of shoulder pads.  - Sleeve length is 22.5"  CONDITION Excellent condition without any notable flaws, especially for a dress from this era. A couple of the beads might be loose, but none seem to be missing. The snap that holds the surplice top together does not appear to be original. I recommend removing the snap and using invisible tape instead.   Please do not rely only on the size label or estimated size to determine fit. For the best chance of a proper fit, compare the actual  measurements with those of a similar garment that fits you. *Approximate measurements taken on exterior of garments unless otherwise noted.
