RORSTRAND CHRISTMAS PLATE 1978

 

Rorstrand is the most important Swedish porcelain manufacturer. Founded in 1726, it has continued to be synonymous with quality craftsmanship and fine porcelain for almost 300 years. Since 1991 the factory has produced the porcelain for the famous banquet offered on the occasion of the awarding of the Nobel Prizes. 

 

The 1978 Christmas Platter is the eleventh in Rorstrand's series of famous Christmas platters which began in 1968. The ornamental motif was created with different shades of blue applied underglaze. The design is the work of Gunnar Nylund. 

The dish is produced in limited quantities and production ends at the end of the year with the destruction of the original shape, thus making it impossible to reproduce.

 

To guarantee authenticity, the plate bears the Rorstrand brand, it is new with its box.

 

The plate measures cm. 19.5 x 19.5 and on the back it has two holes, drilled by the manufacturer during the production phase, to allow it to be hung.
