The globe shows raised relief on it that depicts all the mountainous regions on earth and the equator that divides the earth horizontally into the northern and southern hemispheres and the prime meridian that divides the earth vertically are clearly defined on this marvelous and colorful rendition of a vintage globe. The north and south poles are also well defined and there is an antiqued brass crescent that holds the earth at its axis with markers for reading longitude and latitude lines spread across the globe. The crescent stands on a solid walnut stand turned on a a lathe making it ringed and underneath the globe reads: "MADE IN THE USA."
Scattered about the globe are small pictures of famous explorers like Magellan, Balboa, Cortez, Columbus, Ponce de Leon, and many more and their exploration routes are mapped out on the globe as well. The chief cartographer is listed as Terrance E. Donovan and his Assistant cartographer Kevin M. Dzuray and cartographers are people that study map making.
This is a vintage reproduction of an original antique globe and it dates 1960's and it is in perfect condition.
