This striking ginger jar features a beautiful black ground adorned with delicate white cherry blossoms. It is porcelain covered in a rich shiny black enamel with light brown tree bark and yellow centered white flowers. The flower petals are painted in a raised white glaze, that creates a three dementional surface. This is a vintage original piece dating back to circa 1930. The jar is likely of Japanese origin, although certainly influenced by Chinese traditions. Perfect for collectors of Asian antiques, this piece is a stunning addition to any home decor, especially Art Deco.
Condition: it is missing its domed lid and there is a small (.3”) imperfection (see last photograph) to the black glaze, near one of the flowers.
This ginger jar may be earlier than I think. It also could be Chinese.
