RARE Tiffany & Co. Vintage Frank Gehry Torque Charm Pendant in Sterling Silver

Frank Gehry designed jewelry for Tiffany, but did you know he was a famous architect who designed the Guggenheim Museum? He also designed a top hat for Lady Gaga with his iPhone. His vision is incredibly unique, modern and fluid, and is evident in this amazing necklace.

You can see an architectural influence on the design of this rare and vintage Torque charm. Gehry's minimalism informs every line he draws, and every piece he makes. I know the simplicity speaks to me, which is why I'm a minimalist. Expect a lot of attention and compliments when you wear this charm on a necklace.

The Torque collection is enjoying a resurgence of popularity today. The uneven widths of the walls of the Torque pendant are  interesting, and I like to study it, but you may have to be an architect to get it. This piece has a modernist retro feel of the styles of the '80s. Can you picture this charm swinging from a Tiffany charm bracelet, she's wearing a boxy peplum jumpsuit on a crowded dance floor in New York City, dancing to David Bowie's Modern Love?

I will never know if this charm was part of another complex Torque piece, or a solo charm. Either way, I'm glad to have found it and had the chance to wear it for a while. This piece has a lot of uses other than on a Tiffany charm bracelet. You could pair the charm with a ball-beaded chain, hang it on your backpack or purse, or with a silk thong necklace as a choker. Or wear it as it was meant to be worn, on a lovely Tiffany chain.

I polished the charm with a soft cleaning cloth, although it hardly needed it. This piece is in excellent condition, as you can see from the lack of tarnish. There is a little wear on the back, and with magnification, you can see some surface scratches on the front of the pendant, probably from layering it with other pieces. The scratches are not deep, and are invisible during normal wear. Please see the photos for measurements. As a pre-owned piece, I am very pleased with its condition. For work or play, this charm is clean and ready to go!

This is a very rare piece. I have only seen two others of this size, ever. Clearly, when one has a charm like this, it is kept and cherished. I expect it will go very quickly at auction, so grab it while you can because once it's gone, it's gone forever.
