New Vintage late 1940s early 1950s (because of the stamping of the Knox logo on the leather sweatband, it’s not printed onto the leather but actually stamped, you can actually feel the indents in the leather where the logo is, also the hat liner has a very very thin pre early plastic cover on it, it is paper thin, closer to the onion skin type, it’s black Bowler size 7-1/4.Dads believes that these old Knox bowlers and their homburgs were made in England? This hat is pristine, see pictures. It is solid black. You just don’t find hats like this anymore! These were made by artists!
This is an extremely well made bowler hat, extremely clean and the felt is extremely soft. The shape will remain as it is just don't sit on it. No moth bites or chews! Firm and solid shape and form. Please write if you have any questions. If you look to closely at the pictures you will see a bit of lint. Black just seems to attract lint.
We have examined the hat very closely and just can’t see any wear to it at all! It may have been worn a handful of times but it’s impossible to see that it was?
There are NO a loose thread! No wear to the leather sweatband! Perfect shaping and NO dings! What a great hat!
We wrote Stetson in the title because most folks think that Stetson was the only and best hat manufacturer, NOT TRUE! Back then All these hat manufacturers we all excellent! Please take a minute to look through dads vintage hats that are listed and you’ll see there were so many back in the day. They were all excellent and very competitive.
This classic Bowler is just the hat that folks look at and see prestige and status. The bowler came about when equestrian riders with their top hats falling off all the time (walking in doorways but mostly they said from riding their horses) and at that time hat were considered a must. These hats are also used in the dog shows and other fancy outings.

It was stored in an old Stetson Red hat box but dad has replaced it with this excellent late 1950s though the 1960s Knox hat box. The newer Knox box and the other hand is in very good condition, with inserts.

We measure each hat 3 time, using 3 different methods to verify the size of each hat we list. This has a size tag, size 7-1/4 and this actually measures to a size 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches. We use the standard Tilley Hat Size chart to cross match the size. This chart is still in use today buy all the hat manufacturers.

The finely trimmed brim edge was a great touch on this hat.
