Original Survivor..First registered 01/08/1989 PEUGEOT 205 GTI..1.6… 51K

Graphite Grey Metallic (MOTW) 1989 Phase 1.5, no PAS, no CAT just pure driving pleasure.

Owned for 3 years, the car’s been enthusiastically improved and maintained, ironing out a few age related 205 issues.
It’s easier to discuss the details with anyone genuinely interested, please call, I’m more than happy discussing the car and answering any questions you may have.

Genuine miles, please definitely check the MOT history online. I have all of the old MOT certificates, including the pre 2006 MOT’s to 100% verify this. Never being pulled up on any corrosion issues, there has never been any welding carried out anywhere. The underside is in excellent condition, the MOT tester commented the car being such a clean example and in excellent shape.
If you check the online MOT history, I have all of the paper certificates. That runs to 2006.
The list of pre 2006 MOT’s listed below:
May 2004: 44373 miles “Eavesway” Wigan
May 2003: 43605 miles “A1 Services” Leigh

July 1992: First test at 26002 miles Warrington Garage.
You’ll see from the MOT history that the car has been used sparingly, but regularly throughout most of its life. Never being subjected to being “laid up” for a period of time. Clearly benefitting from this, the car evidently being cherished by each of its previous 8 owners. The Pug remaining in fantastic,100% standard, un modified, un abused, original condition. Astonishing for a car that turns 35 on the 1st of August!
The invoice for the first service carried out on G380 ODB is present. Being completed on the 09/03/1990 at 1122 miles, at Peugeot Talbot franchise Swan National, in affluent Sale Cheshire. The first owner being a Miss J A Taylor.
The service book has unfortunately been mislaid at some point, the dealer book pack, operating manual etc are present it’s just the book that’s not there. There’s recent service invoices for work that the previous owner had carried out including evidence of the cambelt in January 2016 at 47K. This is when the previous owner acquired the car, purchasing it from a known Northamptonshire classic dealer. There’s a couple of Peugeot brochures and various other invoices present. 2 Peugeot keys, one key fitting all locks.
Every MOT certificate is present, checking the recorded MOT locations it’s evident that G380 has spent most of its time in the Cheshire, North West area throughout its life. Each owner using a preferred garage during their ownership.
It’s evident from the condition of the car that it’s been mainly kept inside, and well looked after too. This state of original preservation being impossible otherwise.
All original panels, the paintwork is mostly original and retains a gorgeous deep metallic shine. The top sections of both doors have had historic scratch repairs, I’m sure the rest of the paint is original, even the bumpers. There’s a few age related marks, the worst being some under paint blistering on the hatch in the common spot where the rear wiper rests. A smaller bit on the roof where the drivers side sun roof trim sits. No cause for any concern, the car is always well waxed and protected, neither have progressed in my ownership. Never accident damaged, HPI clear, all shut lines are spot on. Original SEV Marchal headlights and original Siem driving lamps!
The side mouldings, arches and bumpers are in excellent shape. The red stripes are un dented.
The boot floor looks like new.
I’ve replaced the front bumper brackets known for corroding with a top quality Baker BM full set. While the bumper was off cleaned and refurbished the front panel, replacing numerous clips and fixings with the correct Peugeot parts. Replaced the tired starter motor with an uprated version. Repaired the problematic 7-pin multiplug issues…all gauges work as they should and the car starts on the button hot or cold. Both hatch and passenger door central locking solenoids have been replaced. A new battery has also been fitted.
There’s a newly refurbished set of matching Speedline 201’s on the car shod with Avon ZT7’s.
I’ve just completed a service using Shell Helix HX7 10 40, Bosch plugs, Bosch fuel and oil filters, Fram air filter. New coolant and flush, as well as replacing tired breather pipes with an  OEM+ Baker BM pipe and clip set. The fuel pressure regulator has also been replaced with a new correct Bosch item.
G380 ODB passing its MOT on the 21/02 with no advisories.
Absolutely ready to jump in and enjoy.
Always firing up eagerly, from cold the XU engine quickly settles down to an increased idle until the motor warms. Once up to temperature it settles to a nice steady, quiet idle, hot starting is always equally positive.
Driving incredibly well, with no undue noises or smoke from the engine. It’s so responsive and happy to rev when required, sounds amazing with the rear pop out windows open.
On a decent road It’s also a pretty quiet cabin, rattle free and civilised.
The gears are changed easily and precisely, the clutch is positive and easy to operate.
The cabin is in truly fantastic shape, extremely well preserved, still has that Peugeot smell. The original Phillips stereo is present and works well. The plastics are not sun faded, everything works as it should. The red carpets are in excellent condition being protected by original Peugeot rubber mats.
The black and red “quartet” fabric is in superb shape. The rear seats look un used. It’s genuinely like being in 1990, it could be a 12 month old interior!
The sunroof operates as it should, the vacuum seal performing perfectly well. The original bronze tint glass is in superb condition, there’s no unsightly chips to the screen or scratches to the side windows. All of the glass retaining the original registration number etching.
I’ve put a few hundred miles on the Pug since the MOT, road trips through some of North Wales most stunning scenery. The car absolutely hasn’t missed a beat, it’s a joy to drive, and addictive too… The miles may increase slightly, just about 51700 presently.
These are perfectly suited to maximise the driving pleasure for the standard of roads we have. So much fun without threatening your licence,
Time says the 205gti sits on top of the 80’s hot hatch tree… Examples such as these offer the best of both worlds, completely useable, the originality and low miles ensuring a better than money in the bank investment.
Please call/email to discuss the car…genuine buyers only… Please no time wasters. Only selling to fund another classic.
