Hachshara in Havelberg- small photo album titled "Hachshara im Havelberg Sept. 1938-July 1939" contains 12 rare photos, group photos of young Jews, photo from lighting the candles Hannukah 17.12.1938 - the last Hannukah holiday in Germany land before the holocaust. The photos signed by the photographer stamp "Foto Kruger, Haverlberg". Album size 11.5x9cm, photos size vary, most 9x6cm. Good condition. A small souvenir album that will almost certainly be made as a souvenir for the members of the Hachshara group so that it is easy to carry. Early in the 20th century there were a number of European Zionist organizations urging Jews to emigrate to Palestine. This movement, called Hachshara in Germany, took on greater urgency after Hitler’s rise to power in 1933. Hachshara established training centers aimed at providing skills which might assist prospective emigrants to obtain visas from British authorities in Palestine. Havelberg, in rural Sachsen Anhalt in East Germany. The trainees were mostly German but included some stateless persons as well as Polish citizens, all of whom resided in Germany.
