French Creole lady
LARGE, 14 1/2" tall, (15" including headdress) antique dark brown, low fired bisque (or high quality composition), sockethead jointed lady doll incised on the back of her head: SFBJ/PARIS/ circa 1895 with beautiful finish and dark complexion. She has a swivel head with delicate features including lovely inset brown glass eyes, open/closed mouth with row of tiny teeth and a fine, five-piece composition and wood, French body with joints at her shoulders and hips with flat feet to stand, black curly hair wig beneath her original printed cloth, turban headdress with gold beads and matching gold bead earrings. Probably originating from one of the French colonies, she wears a lovely long, striped cotton, island skirt over a full length, sheer white dress/petticoat with red shawl and cotton panties. She is in excellent condition with no damages, no hairlines or chips, no repairs or fading and no odors as she is from a smoke free home. (loc 50A) What a nice way to acquire a cabinet-size, French doll. Other dolls shown are not included and each listed separately.
