Here’s an excellent 1960s Byron-Rolnick designed Resistol, light brown, Rancher style cowboy hat, size 7-1/4, 3X Beaver. This is the OLD vintage 3X Beaver! Nothing like you find in todays or yesterdays hats! It’s extremely soft and pliable! It’s easily reshaped with just a bit of steam! When you take the hat in hand it will detent, it’s that soft and pliable! The brim will also detent when you take it in hand! It will hold and return to the shape when you let its go. You won’t find current hats that do this today! They are all very stiff and not pliable!

You can see that 1960s Resistol (Byron-Rolnick) logo on the liner. It was easily identified as a 1960s hat.

So the color is light brown, Resistol calls this color “DUNE” and those pictures come out just slightly darker than the true color of the hat. The picture of the WHOLE underside is the best match to the actual color of this hat.

This is a classic cowboy Rancher styled hat! It was bought with this shaping because at that point dad and family were very much in love with those TV cowboy series like Gunsmoke, The Virginian, Laredo, Maverick and so many others. 

These older 3X Beaver hats are so easy to with! This is NOT anything like the newer, EXTREMELY stiff Resistol or Stetson or other manufacturers hat!  Steam shaping this is easy to do if you’d ever wanted to change it? But why would you? It’s just beautiful the way it sits now.

We did take out dad’s Older 1960s Resistol Beaver hat collection: 3X, 7X, 10X, 15X and 20X ( the 15 & 20 were newer ones, just to stiff to use as a comparison) and this easily matched the 7X Beaver but dad always wants to be very conservative and will say this is a 3X Beaver. When you have it in your hands though I believe you’ll think it’s a 7X or 10X Beaver! You’ll feel how very soft and thick it is!

So the 3 piece buckle leather hatband was on the hat but inside the box was that great Rattlesnake (actual real rattlesnake) and leather wide hatband. Both fit snuggly on the hat. They could be glued to the hat but we will leave that up to the new owner. Both look great on the hat! The front of the rattlesnake hatband we believe hatband originally Rattlesnake head mounted to it? Well that’s how dad remembers it! And as we looked on eBay we did see these rattlesnake heads are listed for sale. It would be easy enough to mount a head onto the hatband. 

NOTE the Resistol hat box is original to this hat and is NO LONGER INCLUDED IN THIS SALE! A collector wants to buy it for one of his hats.

There is a 7-1/4 size tag and We actually measure each hat 3 times to verify the size, whether tagged or not. This measures to a perfect size 7-1/4 at 22-3/4 inches. This could easily be stretched to a 7-3/8 without a problem, NOT LARGER.
