Plastic banding is in place, outer box is in good condition. One corner is soft from an impact. Plastic display window is in good condition. Reference the photos.
Ask yourself, if the model has the plastic retaining straps off and the doors and other features open, is really brand new??

Please understand as with most vintage models, delicate small parts do come apart due to the loss of structural integrity of materials used, such as glue, plastic parts and tiny metal parts, due to normal aging. Most true collectors/enthusiasts are aware of such occurrences.
Most of these vintage models are handmade and there may be minor factory imperfections (minor scuff marks, tiny scratches, glue residue, paint rash, inclusions in the paint, die cast imperfections, etc.) upon close-up inspection.
